potato soup

the is about he cheapest and tastiest meal you can make, ever! what you need is:

4 or 5 large potatoes

one large onion, white or yellow

1 cup milk

1 cup of the cheapest powdered coffee creamer you can lay your hands on.

into a "dutch oven" or 5 quart large pan, add maybe 2-3 cups water. cut up the onion, mince it nicely and add to the pan. get that cooking till the onions are clear. Peel and cut into chunks the potatoes, and toss them in and let them cook till you can use a masher and mash them a bit, still leaving bite sized chunks. It's important you don't cut them that way, as the mashing thickens the soup, so, you have to start with bigger chunks to do this. while its still boiling, add the milk and coffee creamer powder and mix it in. then turn off the heat and let it sit a while...salt to taste, adding white pepper makes it just tangy enough,
you can also add chunks of ham if you have it, but this is my "poverty meal", so I generally don't have the fortune it costs to have ham laying about for this purpose.
